[No Rest for the Wicked] by Andrea L Peterson (ongoing)
I’ve never kept secret that I am not much of a fan of Japanese conventions in either artistic style or narrative devices, but I have recently been shown titles that proved me very wrong in this. Indeed, for a story that fuses a humorous look at European folktales (as collected by Perrault, the Grimm &c.) with an absolutely respecful, that is un-sugar-coated return to their gruesome original versions, a comic-crafting style such as manga – no stranger to the bizarre, yet employing adorable shorthands for packing as much information and commentary into the panels as possible – works so well that I am having trouble imagining this webcomic done any other way. Absolutely riveting, so beware: once you start reading, you will be reluctant to let go.
